While you can’t adopt a UAE National baby, many couples in Dubai adopt children from Africa, Asia and Far Eastern countries. Adoption regulations vary according to which country the child comes from, but once you clear the requirements of that country, and complete the adoption process, you will have no problems bringing your new child into the UAE on your sponsorship. Check with your embassy about the procedure for applying for citizenship of your home country for your new child.

Hague Adoption Convention
You are advised to go through the Hague Adoption Convention, an internationally recognised process. You’ll be required to provide a file of essential documents, undergo a police check, and complete a 12 hour home-study programme – which involves psychological analysis and parental preparation. After a home visit and final interview, you will receive ‘approval’, and your home study file can be handed over to any international adoption agency recognised by the UAE, and your name added to their adoption list. It is then a matter of waiting for the phone to ring.
