Schöneberg’s average rent of €6.20 per square metre is just above the Berlin city average and significantly lower than in neighbouring Wilmersdorf, which has a quality of life comparable to that of many parts of Schöneberg. The most popular neighbourhoods – around Winterfeldtplatz, Nollendorfplatz and Eisenacher Strasse – offer graceful restored art nouveau flats at better prices than in many other western districts. Especially coveted (and especially expensive) are flats in the quiet, family oriented area around Viktoria-Luise-Platz. The areas around Yorckstrasse, Kurfürstenstrasse and the Kreuzberg border have been dubbed a problem by the Berlin police and cheaper, poorer-quality Neubau concrete towers predominate.
