Schöneberg parents praise the district’s schools as having a more genuinely diverse student body, economically and culturally, than in most other areas of Berlin. While there isn’t as severe a Kita crunch as in Prenzlauer Berg, some of the more popular Kitas do have year-long waiting lists. The schools in the Friedenau neighbourhood enjoy an especially good reputation, particularly the Stechlinsee-Grundschule (030 7560 7908, www.stechlinsee-grundschule.de), which has special offerings in music. Schöneberg is home to one private international kindergarten, the Europa Kindergarten Max & Moritz (www.europakindergarten.de).
