Eating & Drinking
In summer, the area around Nollendorfplatz is so busy that the whole neighbourhood appears to be a single continuous outdoor cafe. Schöneberg is a great place for brunch and breakfast, from Viennese at Café Berio to authentically North American at Tim’s Canadian Deli. Schöneberg restaurants are stylish, international and detail-oriented, and include an Alsatian bistro (Storch, 030 784 2059, www.storchberlin.de), innovative Asian fusion (Mutter, 030 216 4990), and Potemkin, a Russian cafe with dishes named after Eisenstein films (030 2196 8181). Drinking options are just as plentiful as eating options. Schöneberg bars tend to come in two stripes: laid-back cafes that morph into low-key bars come nightfall, catering to a mixed clientele, and more intense, mostly gay male bars and clubs around Nollendorfplatz and Wittenbergplatz.
