Dubai is a great place for a variety of sports, from common activities such as tennis, sailing, golf or football to exploring the great outdoors hiking or mountain biking – a popular pastime in the UAE, especially when the weather cools.

General sports shops are found all over the city and stock a good variety of items including rackets, swimming essentials or sports clothing. You can also find specialist sports shops that offer diving, sailing and desert sport equipment. Many of the major brand names have multiple outlets in Dubai, including Adidas, Nike and Timberland. You can also pick up a few basic items at Carrefour, especially camping gear and various accessories.

A growing range of camping and off-roading accessories is available on the Explorer e-shop, as well as several essential guides and apps to help you get the best of the great outdoors.

Clubs that organise specialist sports, such as Dubai Surfski Kayak Club (dskc.hu), can often be approached for equipment. Golf is extremely popular and clubs, balls and bags are available in most sports shops. Golf House (04 434 0655) and the pro shops are the best places for decent kit.
