For dresses, shoes and accessories, a good bet is Jumeira Road where you’ll find several bridal stores, or for designer gowns head to Saks Fifth Avenue’s bridal department, which stocks or can order the latest off-the-peg designer wedding gowns by Vera Wang and Reem Acra. The bride will need to attend a number of fittings, but alterations are done in-house and they are up to couture standards.

Some of the city’s tailors are able to work from pictures to create your ideal dress; a traditional wedding dress will cost upwards of Dhs.2,000 (including tailoring and fabric), reaching in excess of Dhs.10,000 for a complex design and expensive fabric. It’s a good idea for the bridesmaids’ dresses, too.

For the groom, there are several shops where formal wear can be hired, including The Wedding Shop, Elegance and Formal Wear on 2nd December Street. Debenhams and Monsoon both sell girls’ bridesmaids’ dresses, and cater well to mothers of the bride and groom.

Magrudy’s and Susan Walpole stock invitations, guest books and photo albums, while The Paper Room in The Dubai Mall has a particularly good range of stationery. Debenhams and THE One both offer wedding registry services.

As well as offering wedding venue and planning services, several of the city’s hotels can be commissioned to make the wedding cake. Most of the city’s florists can turn their hands to wedding bouquets and arrangements, with certain florists like Mamosa Flowers (mamoso.com) specialising in weddings. Discuss your requirements with them to find out what will be available.
