Several galleries in Dubai sell traditional and contemporary art by Arabic and international artists, and there’s an annual art fair called Art Dubai. You can also find information on art auctions, art fairs and gallery openings at artinthecity.com.
Souk Madinat Jumeirah has a large concentration of boutiques selling art, glass and photographs, both originals and reproductions. The style and subjects are diverse, from traditional to modern, Arabic to international. And Dubai’s up-and-coming art district in Al Qouz is home to a variety of galleries.
Many galleries and showrooms have a framing service. There are some excellent framing shops on Plant Street in Satwa and in Karama – they can frame anything from prints to sports jerseys. You can also create your own art by transferring your photos onto canvas. There are a few stores that offer the service including Riot Studio (04 445 8488, riotstudio.com), as well as Portfolio (portfolio-uae.com) in Festival Centre and Mercato Shopping Mall.
