Alternative Therapies
Aromatherapy in Beijing is exclusively linked to spas. Treatments are not intended to be medical, and are not linked to TCM. Acupuncture and acupressure are used to treat almost anything; helping smokers to quit, curing depression, slowing the process of aging, and treating or preventing many diseases. Typically, thin needles will be inserted into several parts of the body to help channel energies or relieve pressure. Popular among both expats and locals, a session can cost from ¥100 to ¥500, and be tried at most hospitals.
