Giving Up Smoking

There are no area support groups for quitters, and those trying may find it difficult due to the omnipresence of smokers in Beijing. Several clinics offer programmes aimed at the local population, which are not typically in English. Nonetheless, China-Japan Friendship Hospital has an outpatient smoking cessation programmes that includes counselling and nicotine replacement therapy.

Alternative therapies are common, and anecdotal evidence is positive; acupuncture, for instance, is available at TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) providers like the Beijing Massage Hospital (www.massage-hospital.com).
