Cricket
Barcelona is poorly equipped with pitches and large spaces to play and it is extremely difficult to find clubs. The Pakistani and Indian communities keep cricket alive in the Raval, and you often seen groups of men and boys playing in the street or on council tennis courts. Not much help if you want to join a club though.
The Barcelona International Cricket Club (605 562 047, cricketinbarca@yahoo.com) is the best bet for keen cricketers. They play friendly matches throughout the season (March to July). Players hail mainly from cricket-playing nations such as England, Australia, India and South Africa. It is best to contact the club directly for practice information because they have no cricket ground and, as a result, the venues used tend to vary. For general information on clubs and upcoming events, Cricket España (www.cricketeurope.net/spain) is an affiliate of the European Cricket Council (ECC).
