Maternity Leave
Chinese citizens, and expats working locally, receive 90 days of paid maternity leave, consisting of 15 days prenatal and 75 days after delivery. Employers must ensure that the position stays open during the leave period. Some international firms have a global standard for maternity leave, which may exceed this. If you decide to leave your position after the leave is completed, you are not obligated to compensate your employer, as they receive reimbursement from the government. However, it is a good idea to check in with your workplace periodically while on leave, especially if you would like to extend your time off.
