Boxing is a popular spectator sport in Berlin. It follows that a good number of locals – especially young men – box recreationally. But the sport is not only limited to youngsters; its popularity is growing among young women and the slightly older generation, who are looking to box for fun. Gloves and punch bags are usually provided at gyms. Health Spas and clubs sometimes offer boxing classes, which tend toward hybrids such as tae-bo and often involve punching the air. Serious boxers should get in touch with the German Boxing Association (http://boxgba.de).
