Skiing & Snowboarding

Berlin is hardly a skiing destination in itself, but it does offer a few opportunities for enthusiasts, especially those not shy of artificial slopes and skiing indoors. The capital boasts the longest indoor ski slope in Europe at Snow Fun Park Wittenberg.

Most skiing takes place in the south-east of the country. The closest real downhill option is in Harz, one of the northernmost skiing regions in Germany, with 234m to 1,142m mountain ranges. West of Berlin near Allenau, Harz offers 40km of beginner and intermediate tracks (harz-ski.de). The best website for checking ski conditions in Germany is www.schneehoehen.de, which has a handy ski atlas tool that allows you to check all resorts and runs in the country, as well as across Europe.
