Hockey
There are two kinds of hockey played in Berlin: field hockey (Hockey) and ice hockey (Eishockey). The latter is by far the most popular to watch (see Spectator Sports), but field hockey is more popular to play; there’s less hassle involved with purchasing kit and booking rink time. Some of the rinks that are used primarily for figure skating also rent hockey equipment or whole rinks out to teams. For field hockey, one option is to check tennis and squash clubs, which usually rent out their courts to players. A full list of hockey teams and places to play is available at www.hockey.de, the website of the Deutsche Hockey Verband. The Deutschen Eishockey-Bund (www.deutscher-hockey-bund.de) is the ice hockey federation, and is a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation.
